Fall is Coming, Fall is Coming!

Around here, school starts next week.  This is our first school season and I am trying to do what I can to make mornings and evenings as smooth as possible.  My show season starts in 4 weeks- and online Christmas shopping starts in about 6 weeks.  Between making sure the kids are to school ontime, making jewelry, packing orders, and making sure that we have a fun holiday season, it is going to be a bit nutty.

I like to get a head start on cooking year round- stocking my freezer with meals that can just be popped in the oven, prepping veggies ahead of time, filling the crockpot in the morning. So, I have been gathering recipes and experimenting with some recipes to make our busy fall a bit easier.

My next few posts will be some recipes that (I hope) will help my family get through what promises to be a crazy fall.   Look for a simple toast twist (my kids' current favorite), a fun pancake idea, and some yummy breakfast pizzas, and maybe even a cookie you can eat before 8am.

Off to make breakfast...

So Long And Thanks For All The Swimmies! or Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

I have been writing this post for months.  Trying to put to words my feelings on leaving Etsy.  Had I published it when I closed my Etsy shops, it would have been angry, full of snark and grrrr, and the world really doesn't need more of that.  But, I did close my shop, and have moved it to Artfire.  I am pretty happy there, still missing the community, even though I keep up with most of my "Etsy friends" in other places.

My reasons for leaving the site of "All Things Handmade" are thus:
the tearing apart of the community by dismantling the forums and
the lack of concern over the needs and security of its clients (both buyers and sellers)

Those are really the very short versions, but, if you poke around on the web, my feelings on the subject have already been expressed by many many others who are much better at that sort of thing. (see EtsyBitch, EtsyUncensored, The Swimmies, etc).

The other separation that has caused me anxiety this spring has been from GoDaddy.  If you are not familiar, it is the domain hosting site that advertises by demeaning women and has an owner who loves to shoot elephants.  I am a big believer in voting with your money, so tried to move my hosting. One month and a Paypal dispute later and my domain is free!  Well, not free, but roaming new pastures.

So, this is the start of new things!  A blog with some awesome jewelry making tutorials, updates from my garden (cause I know everyone was waiting for that) and previews of new products and where to find them!

Until next time...
